The 6386 is a medium-mu twin triode in which each section exhibits a remote-cutoff characteristic. "Remote" cutoff means that the plate current slowly fades away, and does not occur suddenly. Instead of simply following a line downward in plate current as the grid is made more negative, the line has a curve to it. As you apply a more negative voltage, the amount by which the plate current falls gets less and less.
The JJ 6386 is ideal for use in Fairchild, Manley and STA-Level Compressors.
All our preamp tubes are stringently tested for noise and microphonics using Amplitrex testers driving an external amp. There is no extra charge for low noise and microphonics testing like with other tube vendors. If a tube does not pass our strict performance criteria it's tossed or sent back to JJ Electronic for evaluation.
