VOX AC4C1 Gold Pin Tweed Retube Kit

This is our Gold Pin Tweed Retube Kit for the VOX AC4C1. This option offers the same gain reduction as the standard Tweed kit while retaining a more open and chimey overall sound. If you're looking for a rounder tone stick with the normal Tweed option. This kits contains a single JJ EL84 for power along with a Gold Pin 12AY7 for V1 and a Gold Pin ECC83S's for V2 in the preamp.

Let us know in the comments section if you're looking for an early breakup, a moderate breakup (default), or a later breakup for more headroom in which case we will choose the coolest grades we have available for the power tubes.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two EL84’s. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two and will greatly decrease tube rattle. ** Note; the wire tube retainers will not fit all the way over the damper rings.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
