Want a little cleaner front end and the earlier breakup of the JJ EL844? This is our Low Output SRV Option Retube Kit for the VOX AC30HW Heads and Combo Amps. This kit uses a JJ 5751 for V1 which is in-between an ECC81 and an ECC83S in gain, three standard ECC83S for V2 thru V4, a balanced ECC83S for V5, a JJ GZ34 rectifier tube and a matched quad of the low output JJ EL844's for the power section.

The Balanced ECC83S is located in V5 farthest from the input jacks and the 5751 is located in V1.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the four EL844’s and the GZ34. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four small damper rings and one large damper for the GZ34 and will greatly decrease tube rattle.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The JJ EL844’s are a drop in replacement for EL84’s. The EL844’s will reduce the power output of the amp by a decibel or two which is very noticeable.
