Want all the gain you can get? This is our High Gain Retube Kit for the 90's era VOX AC15RI. It contains a matched pair of JJ EL84's for power, a JJ 5Y3S rectifier tube, a standard ECC83S for V4 and four handpicked High Gain ECC83S's one being current balanced for the phase inverter in V5. A nice upgrade from the stock tubes, sweet and warm!

Just let us know in the comments section if you're looking for an early breakup, a moderate breakup or a later breakup for more headroom in which case we will choose the coolest grades we have available for the power tubes.

The Balanced High Gain ECC83S is located in V5 closest to the rectifier tube and the three High Gain ECC83S's are located in V1 thru V3.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two EL84’s and the 5Y3. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two small dampers for the EL84's and one large damper for the 5Y3S and will greatly decrease tube rattle.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
