Traynor YCV 40 Gold Pin Option

The original YCV 40 amps prior to April of 2008 have a bias compensation circuit but it's just to balance unmatched power tubes. It does not adjust the plate current up or down, it is basically a fixed bias amp. These amps can use 6L6GC's in a moderate grade and the bias will be right where it should be. They can also use hot grades of the JJ KT77's to get the bias right and give a little more British flavor.

All YCV 40 amps post April 2008 are full adjustable bias. All you need to check and adjust the bias is a bias probe and a Multimeter, or our all-in-one Eurotubes "Pro One" bias probe that reads both the plate current and the plate voltage simultaneously.
