Want a very smooth and rich tone with less grit? This is the Gold Pin Option Retube Kit for the Traynor YCS 50. The preamp section uses three Gold Pin ECC83S's with one balanced for the phase inverter in V3. The default power tubes are a matched pair of the JJ E34L's but you can configure this kit to use the JJ EL34's, EL34 II's, KT77’s, Big bottle 6CA7's, 6L6GC's or 5881's by clicking on the "Customize" button!

The Balanced Gold Pin ECC83S is located in V4 marked "Splitter".

The YSC 50 Heads came with EL34's but can use 6L6's. The YCS Combo amps came with 6L6's and can use any EL34 type tubes.

If your amp is the combo version and you have chosen to use the JJ 6L6GC's then please let us know in the comments section and we will ship your kit with the special Double Mica 6L6GC’s at no extra charge which will greatly reduce any tube rattle. JJ Electronic started building us a proprietary version of their 6L6GC (the 6L6GC-DM) in 2005 with extra layers of mica. This reinforces the plate structure and all but eliminates tube rattle symptoms. For all other tubes such as EL34’s, KT77's and 6CA7's, we recommend using our EuroDamper rings. These will greatly decrease tube rattle.

The YCS amps are adjustable bias amps. All you need to check and adjust the bias is a Multimeter, or if you want to be more accurate then you can use a bias probe in conjunction with the multimeter or one of our "Pro One" all-in-one bias probes. All of these are available under the "Related Products" tab.

The 50 watt amps use 2 ohm resistors and Traynor recommends 75mV + or - 10mV. This is a little low. When comparing tubes with a bias probe we have found that to get 35mA the test points need to hit right at 100mV. So the test points are not real accurate.
