Want a really smooth and rich tone with less grit? This is our Gold Pin Option Retube Kit for the Soldano Astroverb 16 Heads and Combo Amps. It uses Five Gold Pin ECC83S's with one being current balanced for the phase inverter in V5. The default power tubes are a matched pair of the JJ EL84's. With the Customize option you can configure this kit to use the JJ EL844's which will drop the power output a couple decibels (ideal for players wanting decreased headroom/output).

The Balanced Gold Pin ECC83S is located in V5 which is located closest to the power tubes in the back row.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two EL84’s. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two small dampers and will greatly decrease tube rattle.

These amps are adjustable bias. All you need to check and set the bias is one of our 9 pin bias probes with a Multimeter, or our all-in-one 9 pin "Pro One" bias probe (which reads plate voltage and plate current simultaneously). These are available under the "Related Products" tab.

EL84's should bias up to between 22 to 26 mA per tube.
The JJ EL844's are a 9 watt tube and should bias up to between 16 to 20 mA per tube.
