Looking for a vintage vibe? This is the ECC803S V1 Option Retube Kit for the Peavey Penta. The preamp section uses a JJ Long Plate ECC803S for V1 for a little lower gain with big thick mids and a little more sparkle in the highs. We follow that up with two standard ECC83S's for V2-V3 and a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4. The default power tubes are the JJ Electronic E34L’s but you can configure this kit to use the JJ EL34II's, EL34’s, KT77’s or Big Bottle 6CA7’s by clicking on the "Customize" button.
These are all adjustable bias amps and all you need to check and adjust the bias is a bias probe and a Multimeter, or our all-in-one Eurotubes "Pro One" bias probe (which reads both the plate current and the plate voltage simultaneously). You can find all these under the Related Products Tab. You can use the "Generic Bias Video" we made using a Marshall 800 for reference. The EL34's, EL34II's, E34L's, 6CA7's and KT77's all bias up the same. The video below explains the difference between bias probe types.
