Want a little cleaner front end and the earlier breakup of the JJ EL844? This is our Low Output SRV Option Retube Kit for the Orange AD30R. This kit uses a JJ 5751 for the input tube which is in-between an ECC81 and an ECC83S in gain. We follow that up with a standard ECC83S for the reverb driver, a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter, a JJ GZ34 rectifier tube and a matched quad of the low output JJ EL844's for the power section.

The Balanced ECC83S is located farthest from the input jack and the 5751 is located closest to the input jack.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the four EL844’s and the GZ34. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four small dampers and one large damper for the GZ34 and these will greatly decrease tube rattle. ** Note; the wire tube retainers will not fit all the way over the damper rings.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The JJ EL844’s are a drop in replacement for EL84’s. The EL844’s will reduce the power output of the amp by a decibel or two which is very noticeable.
