Mesa Boogie Mark V Custom Retube Kit
Custom Kit
Want it your way? The "Custom Kit" is just that, you get to choose your power tubes and all your preamp tubes! We'll give you all the combinations that we know work and then you can choose what you want. The Mark V is different from other Simulclass Mesa’s, you can’t combine 6L6GC's with EL34 type tubes because the fixed bias is too hot in the EL34 mode. So with 6L6GC’s the only option to mix tubes is with a pair of KT66’s or 5881's. However you can run a full quad of EL34II's or EL34’s in the EL34 bias mode or you can run a pair of EL34’s with a pair of KT77's or a pair of Big Bottle 6CA7's. Then you can choose your V1 tube and all your other preamp tubes! We give you all the positions and you fill them! We left the quantity fields open so that spares or multiple tubes could be ordered to experiment with.
Custom Kit
Power-Tubes
All our Mesa Retube Kits include power tubes that are hand selected to run perfectly in Mesa amps. We have extensive hands-on experience measuring the fixed bias points in these amps and what grade of tubes will achieve optimal performance. You can run a matched quad of the 6L6GC's or 5881's, or matched pairs of 6L6GC's or 5881's or KT66's. Unfortunately in the Mark V you cannot mix 6L6 and EL34 types like other Simulclass amps. However you can run dissimilar EL34-type pairs with each other as long as one pair is installed in the outside sockets and the other pair is installed in the inside sockets. This means you can use any of the EL34 types as a full quad (EL34, E34L, EL34II, KT77, 6CA7) or mixed pairs to further tailor the sound.

V1
Your V1 tube is your clean channel and is also the second and third gain stages for channels 1, 2 and 3. It's the tube that shapes the tone of your amp. Any of these tubes will sound very good, but here is your chance to really dial in your tone. Read the "More details" for descriptions. We left the "Quantity Field" active for those of you who may want a couple different V1 tubes to experiment with.

V3 is the third and fourth gain stages, here you can again increase or decrease the gain or smooth it out with a Gold Pin tube. The only tubes we stay away from in V3 are the long plate tubes which are more prone to feeding back in the lead position.

EuroDamper Tube Damper Rings
Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings. If your amp is the combo version then please let us know in the comments section. All Combo amp Retube Kits are shipped with the Eurotubes Double Mica 6L6GC’s at no extra charge. JJ Electronic started building us a proprietary version of their 6L6GC (the 6L6GC-DM) in 2005 with extra layers of mica. This reinforces the plate structure and all but eliminates tube rattle symptoms. For all other tubes such as EL34’s, KT77's and 6CA7's, we recommend using our EuroDamper rings. These are 5.00 each.
