Mesa Boogie Mark IV Custom Retube Kit
Custom Kit
Want it your way? The "Custom Kit" is just that, you get to choose your power tubes and all your preamp tubes! We'll give you all the combinations that we know work and then you can combine 6L6GC's with KT77's or Big Bottle 6CA7's or?? Then you can choose your V1 tube and all your other preamp tubes! We give you all the positions and you fill them!. We left the quantity fields open so that spares or multiple tubes could be ordered to experiment with.
Custom Kit
Power-Tubes
You can run a matched quad of the 6L6GC's or 5881's, or a matched pair of 6L6GC's or 5881's with a pair of E34L's, EL34II's, KT77's, 6CA7's or EL34's. Keep in mind you can start with a quad of 6L6GC’s and then order additional pairs of EL34’s to experiment with (in the outside sockets). This is great for players that are unfamiliar with EL34 styles as it leaves you with a full quad of 6L6GC’s to fall back on. Remember, you must stick with 6L6GC’s for the inside sockets or 5881's. The Mark IV can also use a quad of 6V6S's, Mesa recommends only doing this in the Tweed mode.

V1
Your V1 tube is your clean channel and is the tube that shapes the tone of your amp. Any of these tubes will sound very good, but here is your chance to really dial in your tone. Read the "More details" for descriptions. We left the "Quantity Field" active for those of you who may want a couple different V1 tubes to experiment with.

V2
The V2 position in your amp is the third gain stage stage and rhythm modes and side two is the FX return. Here you can increase or decrease the gain, or even smooth it out with a Gold Pin tube. If you choose to lower the gain here then your FX return will also decrease in gain slightly.

V3
V3 is the First Lead gain stage and verb return, here you can again increase or decrease the gain or smooth it out with a Gold Pin tube. The only tubes we stay away from in V3 are the long plate tubes which are more prone to feeding back in the lead position.

EuroDamper Tube Damper Rings
Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings. If your amp is the combo version then please let us know in the comments section. All Combo amp Retube Kits are shipped with the Eurotubes Double Mica 6L6GC’s at no extra charge. JJ Electronic started building us a proprietary version of their 6L6GC (the 6L6GC-DM) in 2005 with extra layers of mica. This reinforces the plate structure and all but eliminates tube rattle symptoms. For all other tubes such as, 6V6S’s, EL34’s, KT77's, 6CA7's and E34L’s, we recommend using our EuroDamper rings. These are 5.00 each.
