Want as much gain as possible and you want your Lone Star to breakup a little earlier? This kit for the Loan Star Special contains a matched quad of JJ EL844's to drop the overall output a couple decibels for the power section along with a JJ 5Y3S Rectifier tube. For the front end two handpicked High Gain ECC83S for V1 and V2, two standard ECC83S's for V3 and V4 and a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter. Lots of gain!

The Balanced ECC83S is the preamp tube in the back row farthest from the input jack. The two High Gain ECC83S's are located in V1 and V2.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the four EL844’s and the 5Y3S. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four for the EL84's and a single larger EuroDamper for the 5Y3S. These will greatly decrease tube rattle.

These amps are fixed biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The JJ EL844’s are a drop in replacement for EL84’s. The EL844’s will reduce the power output of the amp by a decibel or two.
