Want the smoothest richest tone possible from your DSL 401 but you also want the earlier breakup of the EL844's? This kit contains a matched quad of JJ EL844's to drop the overall output a couple decibels for the power section. Three standard Gold Pin ECC83S's for V1 thru V3 and a balanced Gold Pin ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4. A smooth rich tone and an earlier breakup from the power tubes.

The Balanced Gold Pin ECC83S is located in V4 closest to the power tubes.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the quad of EL844's. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four and will greatly decrease tube rattle.

When setting the bias for JJ EL844's it needs to be set between .600 to .750 for EL844’s. All you need is a Multimeter.
