Want more warmth and definition? This is our Standard Retube Kit for the Kustom Defender V30. The preamp section uses three ECC83S's with one balanced for the phase inverter in V3. The default power tubes are the JJ Electronic E34L’s but you can configure this kit to use the JJ 5881's, 6L6GC's, EL34II's, EL34’s, KT77’s or Big Bottle 6CA7’s by clicking on the "Customize" button.

The Balanced ECC83S is located closest to the power tubes in V3.


Combo amps are very hard on power tubes because of all the vibrations and these will very often cause tube rattle at certain frequencies. If you have chosen to use the JJ 6L6GC's then we will ship your kit with the special Double Mica 6L6GC’s at no extra charge which will greatly reduce any tube rattle. JJ Electronic started building us a proprietary version of their 6L6GC (the 6L6GC-DM) in 2005 with extra layers of mica. This reinforces the plate structure and all but eliminates tube rattle symptoms. For all other tubes such as EL34’s, KT77's and 6CA7's, we recommend using our EuroDamper rings. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two and they will greatly decrease tube rattle.

These are cathode bias amps that are switchable from EL34 to 6L6 so no biasing is necessary. The 6L6GC's and 5881's run in the 6L6 mode and the EL34II's, EL34's, E34L's, KT77's and 6CA7's all run in the EL34 mode.
