Do you like FAT mids and a real sparkling high end? This is our ECC803S Option Retube Kit for the Kustom Defender 15 and V15 Amps. It contains a matched pair of JJ EL84's and a Long Plate ECC803S which is used for both the input and driver tube. A nice upgrade from the stock tubes, sweet and warm!

Just let us know in the comments section if you're looking for an early breakup, a moderate breakup or a later breakup for more headroom in which case we will choose the coolest grades we have available for the power tubes.

The Standard ECC803S replaces the 12AX7. These amps use a split-load phase inverter circuit so there is no need for a current balanced tube.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the power tubes. These are available under the "Related Products" tab as a set of two and will greatly reduce tube rattle.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
