Want a very rich and smooth tone with less grit? This is our Gold Pin Option Retube Kit for the Dr. Z M12 Heads and Combo Amps. It contains a matched pair of JJ EL84's for power, a JJ 5Y3S rectifier tube, a Gold Pin JJ EF806 for V1 and a current balanced Gold Pin ECC83S for the phase inverter in V2.

Just let us know in the comments section if you're looking for an early breakup, a moderate breakup or a later breakup for more headroom in which case we will choose the coolest grades we have available for the power tubes.

The Balanced Gold Pin ECC83S is located in V2 closest to the power tubes.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two EL84’s and the 5Y3S. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two small dampers and one large damper for the 5Y3S and will greatly decrease tube rattle. ** Note; the wire tube retainers will not fit all the way over the damper rings.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
