Want all the gain you can get? This is the High Gain Option Retube kit for the Crate VC30 thru VC50 Heads and Combo amps. It contains a matched quad of JJ EL84's for power along with four handpicked High Gain ECC83S's with one being current balanced for the phase inverter in V4.

Just let us know in the comments section if your looking for max headroom, moderate or an early breakup so we can select a proper grade for the power tubes.

The Balanced High Gain ECC83S is located in V4 farthest from the input jack.

If your amp is a Combo amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the four EL84’s. Combo are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four and will greatly decrease tube rattle. ** Note; the wire tube retainers will not fit all the way over the damper rings.

These amps are fixed biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
