Looking for a vintage vibe? This is the ECC803S V1 Option Retube Kit for the later X100B amps and the XV212 Combo that came with EL34's. The preamp section uses a JJ Long Plate ECC803S for V1 for a little lower gain with big thick mids and a little more sparkle in the highs, a standard ECC83S for V2 and a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter in V3. The default power tubes are the JJ Electronic E34L’s but you can configure this kit to use the JJ EL34II's, EL34’s, KT77’s or Big Bottle 6CA7’s by clicking on the "Customize" button.

The Balanced ECC83S is located farthest from the input jack in V3. The ECC803S is located in V1.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the power tubes. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four. These will greatly decrease tube rattle.

Most of these amps are fixed bias but over the years many have been modded to be adjustable bias and after 1982 Carvin issued them with factory bias trimmers. If your amp is fixed bias without the mod then leave us a note in the comments box on the checkout page and we will send hotter tubes to help get the bias closer.

If your amp is adjustable bias then all you need to check and adjust the bias is a Multimeter if you use the Carvin method. For more accuracy you can also use a bias probe and a Multimeter, or our all-in-one Eurotubes "Pro One" bias probe that reads both the plate current and the plate voltage simultaneously. These are available under the "Related Products" tab.
