Want it your way? The "Custom Kit" is just that, you get to choose your power tubes from the "Power-Tubes" category and all your preamp tubes! We'll give you all the tube types that we know work. Then you can choose your V1 tube and all your other preamp tubes! We give you all the positions and you fill them!. We left the quantity fields open so that spares or multiple tubes could be ordered to experiment with.

Power-Tubes

There are two choices for power tubes, you can use the JJ EL84's or you can use the JJ EL844's. The EL844's are completely different tubes than the stock tubes your amp came with. The JJ EL844’s are a proprietary tube that JJ Electronic built at the request of Eurotubes. These are a lower power tube and will drop the output a couple of decibels. When biasing the EL844's using the Carvin method we recommend between 60 to 72mA.

V3 is the final drive stage for channel three. Here you can decrease, maintain or increase the gain, or you can smooth it out with a Gold Pin tube. The only tubes we stay away from here are the long plate ECC803S's, they can feed back in this position at extreme gain settings. We left the "Quantity Field" active for those of you who may want a couple different tubes to experiment with. Click on the "More details" button for descriptions.

Bias Probes and Multimeters

These amps are adjustable bias and you can use the Carvin method using a Multimeter or you can use one of our 9 pin bias probes with a Multimeter or our all-in-one 9 pin Pro One" bias probe that reads plate voltage and plate current simultaneously. When biasing the EL844's using the Carvin method we recommend between 60 to 72mA. If you're using a bias probe then 16 to 20mA per tube is good.

EuroDamper Tube Damper Rings

If your amp is the V3MC Combo amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the four EL84’s. Combo are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of four and will greatly decrease tube rattle. ** Note: the tubes are very close together so you have to stagger the damper rings so they fit.
