It's no secret that Stevie played his amps cranked and preferred a little cleaner sound from the front end allowing you to hear more power tube breakup. This kit uses a JJ 5751 for V1 which is in-between an ECC81 and an ECC83S in gain and a current balanced for the phase inverter in V2. The default power tubes are a matched pair of the JJ EL84's but you can configure this kit to use the JJ EL844's to drop the power output a couple decibels by clicking on the "Customize" button!

The Balanced ECC83S is located in V2 closest to the power tubes.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two EL84’s. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two small dampers and will greatly decrease tube rattle. ** Note; the tube retainer bar has to be spread out to fit over the damper rings.

These amps are cathode bias so there is no adjustment to be made.

Both the JJ EL84's and the JJ EL844's are plug and play.
