JJ 6550 Single. This tube is a replacement for all standard 6550 applications and most KT88 amps as well. The JJ 6550 is a high power tube with more headroom than your standard EL34 or 6L6 variant. Compared to the KT88, it breaks up a little earlier and has very raw and open overdriven sound.

After a 24 hour burn in all power tubes are tested for noise and matched at multiple operating points for plate current (± one milliamp) and transconductance.

The JJ 6550 is a modern replacement for all classic 6550 applications. They can also be used in place of KT88's in most amps. Tonally these tubes are similar to the KT88 (big lows, slightly pushed mids, clear but crunchy highs when pushed) but with slightly less headroom and a more raw and open sounding overdriven tone.

The metal base ring on the JJ 6550 is isolated and not internally connected. This makes them safe for all 6550 and big bottle applications.
