Peter Woodworth
Bio
Among my earliest and most cherished childhood memories are the times I spent playing with my toys on the floor of my dad’s office
while he played good music on his stereo. On hot summer nights, he’d drag one of his Sansui speakers down the hall to my room to
help me go to sleep. Some mornings I’d wake up to hear my mom playing the piano, other mornings, my dad would carry me half-
asleep to the couch where he’d turn on MTV (the musical era) or ABC Rocks. Music was always a part of my life.
Growing up on the Oregon coast meant that much of my foundational playing experience was acquired around a campfire on the
beach, at the river, in a farm field, on a logging road in the middle of nowhere, etc. Naturally I went through a long folk/Americana
phase, culminating in a years-long mission to reduce any song to just chords and voice (with often hilarious outcomes). However, my
interest has always been primarily in the electric guitar; its huge sounds that could vary from violin-like swells to blasts of trumpets and
then on to synth-like blips and bubbles represented endless possibilities that I have always been drawn to.
When deciding what to do with my life after high school, I reasoned that going to college for electrical engineering would put me in a
good place to start learning to make better tube amps, and for several years I persisted in that thinking despite not once having studied
vacuum tubes in the coursework. I then wisely failed out and moved on. I’ve since been studying tube electronics and sound
mechanics at my own pace while working as a carpenter, a landscaper, a baker, a salesman, a sailor, custodian, a waiter, a bartender,
etc, building a project here and there and picking up an occasional repair.
Here at Eurotubes, I get to share the knowledge and expertise I’ve accumulated and help other music lovers find their tone, which
endows my work with a sense of purpose and meaning, and which fills me with gratitude!
