This is our Blues Option Retube Kit. We put it together specifically for Blues players and players in general that want a smoother and more natural sounding OD channel! This will drop the gain down in the drive channel by about 40%. This kit contains a matched pair of JJ EL84's for power along with an ECC832 for V1, a standard ECC83S for V2 and a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter in V3.

Just let us know in the comments section if you're looking for max headroom, moderate, or an early breakup so we can select a proper grade for the power tubes.

The Balanced ECC83S is located in V3 and it's the middle preamp tube! The ECC832 is located in V1 closest to the input jack.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If your amp is the combo version and you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two EL84’s. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two and will greatly decrease tube rattle.

These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
